Pioneer Jacks Up the Contrast with their New Plasmas

Pioneer Plasma HDTV

Pioneer announced their new generation of HD plasma-screen TVs, and they’re absolutely beautiful. If you’re looking to upgrade to a high-end, flat-screen HDTV, these should be at the top of the list of models you’ll be looking at.

What makes these TVs so beautiful. In a word, contrast. They sport 20,000:1 contrast ratios, making blacks deep and rich while allowing detail to pop through in low-light situations. In addition, colors will be brighter and details crisper. Oh, and the TVs are nice and big, which is always a plus.

But, like I said, they’re pretty high end. The top of the line model, a 1080p 60-inch model, is set to come out in September for the gut-dropping price of $7,500. But hey, if you view a TV as an investment and not just a way to get from A to BJ and the Bear, then you might just find having the best picture quality possible is well worth the extra scratch.
