Despite the prevalence of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 next-gen game consoles, the Playstation 2 isn’t dead. Far from it, in fact. Sony is still heavily supporting it and games are still coming out for it, and with good reason: the Playstation 2 is handily outselling the Playstation 3. Good news for PS2 owners who aren’t ready to upgrade!
One of the better new games for the PS2, at least for Japanese RPG fans, is Wild ARMs 5. Featuring an out-there group of characters and an even more out-there story, it’s certainly one of the more unique takes on the genre you’re likely to see this year. It’s got lots of strange innuendos and interesting politics, and it’ll certainly keep you engaged for the 30 or so hours it’ll take you to complete the game. And with no really great RPGs coming out anytime soon for any of the expensive next-gen systems, why upgrade now? There’s still plenty more fun to be had with the PS2.
