Polaroid Jumps Head First Into the Digital Age

Polaroid Zink

Remember Polaroid cameras? You should, because technically they haven’t gone away. They’re still a cute toy to play with, but with digital cameras becoming all the rage they’ve kind of fallen by the wayside. That’s not to say Polaroid is laying down and giving up, no sir. They’ve created a smaller company called Zink, and they’re gonna be releasing some products at the end of this year that are gonna blow your minds.

The Zink camera is like a classic Polaroid camera, but upgraded for the digital age. Big screens, megapixels, and all that jazz, but with the added bonus of a built-in printer. Just like the old school models, no ink cartridges will be necessary (although you will need those paper packs like the old school models). In addition to the camera/printer combo look for a standalone printer with Bluetooth capabilities, turning your previously trapped cameraphone snapshots into hard copies for you to stick on the fridge. Way to bring it back in a big way, Polaroid!

I thought Polaroid, as a brand name, no longer existed. I've read that they've sold their name to one or more companies who export cameras from various sources. Of course, these sources may be either good or bad, and unless I see some reviews from people who've actually used models like the i531, I have nothing to go by. I think it's pretty much a crapshoot (no pun intended). So you can find a digital camera with the Polaroid name, but it isn't the same company of decades ago.
