Downtowners got a sneak-peak today of the new, dynamic video installation for the September 11 Memorial and Museum at 20 Vesey St. – just one block away from J&R. The preview site was established to inform the public on construction progress and other facts about the Memorial and Museum. The video installation features animated renderings of the Memorial and has the official “9/11 Memorial Opening Day Counter” which shows the days until the official opening of the Memorial.

New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg joined 9/11 Memorial President Joe Daniels and Sharp Electronics Corp. Chairman and CEO Kozo Takahashi in unveiling the nine Sharp LCD monitors which comprise the video installation. Sharp is the official sponsor and will provide on-going support for the installation. “The new video installation at the Preview Site will give a one-of-a-kind look at the rebirth of the World Trade Center site,” said Mayor Bloomberg.

Meanwhile construction continues on the new World Trade Center “Freedom Tower”. Construction workers can be seen working on one of the two buildings that are slowly rising into the Manhattan skyline. Estimated completion is April 2013.
