Return to the Final Fantasy VII World with Crisis Core

Crisis Core

If you’ve been a fan of RPG games, or even video games in general, since the era of the original Playstation or earlier, chances are good that you played Final Fantasy VII when it was first released. One of the biggest, most pioneering video games ever released, it’s one of those games that left an indelible mark on everyone who played it, so much so that people are still clamoring for a remake for the current generation of consoles.

While Square Enix hasn’t delivered on that, what they have done is create a fully-realized prequel to Final Fantasy VII in Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII for the PSP. You take the role of a member of SOLDIER in the city of Midgar, the initial setting of the original game. Your quest begins as a simple one, but naturally widens in scope to more fully realize the universe that you’re in and the characters that you remember so well. It’s got stunning graphics and cut scenes, and the North American version even comes loaded with a bonus “Hard Mode” for you truly masochistic players out there who like making things difficult on yourselves. So finally, at long last, here’s a new Final Fantasy VII game. You’re welcome.
