River-to-River Downtown Festival, June 1
It’s very clear that summer is around the corner and New Yorkers are venturing outdoors. Born in the summer of 2002, in the wake of the 2001 tragedy at the World Trade Center, the Downtown River-to-River Festival has (like the Tribeca Film Festival) become a cherished summer tradition The Downtown River-to-River Festival 2007 launches on June 1 with a major party of free concerts, events, and activities. It will bring mostly free performances, cultural events, and hundreds of artists to the East River’s South Street Seaport to venues throughout the Financial District to Historic Battery Park and Battery Park City, to the World Financial Center on the Hudson River and City Hall Park.
The free events on June 1 are:
Noon to 2:00 PM – Boat, Bike, and Buoy Parade starting at Castle Clinton National Monument in Battery Park
7:00 PM- A New York Tribute to Bluegrass featuring Ricky Skaggs at Castle Clinton
The Festival lasts straight through the summer.
