Roadtrippin’ In Style
We’re never getting lost again. That’s not empty bragging, either — we’re just stating of fact. No matter where we go, we aren’t getting lost. We can’t, now that we’ve got a Magellan RoadMate 6000T. It’s just not possible, unless you’re actually trying to get lost.
The Magellan RoadMate 6000T has built-in traffic updates, to help avoid traffic snags. The new SayWhere text-to-speech feture lets the RoadMate announce street & highway names, or the next turn. SmartDetour routes us around heavy traffic. Auto Reroute calculates a new route if we miss a turn, and SmartVolume turns up the volume as soon as we go over 45MPH, so we can hear directions over engine noise. A route optimizer plans the most efficient route for stopping at multiple places. The anti-glare 3.5″ shows 2D and overhead 3D map views. It comes with pre-loaded maps of all 50 states, plus Canada and Puerto Rico — plus 6 million points of interest. We can also load up our own maps with the SD slot, or add our own notes and points of interest with the 4GB hard drive. The Bluetooth compatibility makes hands-free operation possible, and the quick-release cradle makes it easy to remove and store.
So that’s one piece of equipment for our cross-country road trip. Now we have to figure out what else we’ll need, besides a video camera and AAA membership — we’ve already got that covered. Feel free to add comments with your suggestions.
