Samsung unveiled a tiny new HD camcorder, making it easier for amateur videographers to get the best quality picture possible without having to lug around a gigantic camera. The diminutive camcorder records to 4 GB of built-in flash memory, removing the need to carry around stacks of DV tapes. It has a nice, big, 2.7-inch LCD for seeing what you’re shooting, and it’s a touchscreen to allow you to access all the menus quickly and easily. There’s also a 1.5-megapixel CCD that will let you take decent if not great still pictures.
All this doesn’t come cheap, of course, with the price coming in at $850. It’s actually rather reasonable for an HD camcorder, with many other HD models costing over $2,000. It’s a great choice for someone who’s relatively serious about their videos but still decidedly an amateur. Unfortunately, you’ll need to wait a while before getting your hands on this… it won’t hit stores until September of this year.
