Samsung went a little crazy at CES this year, releasing a whole new line of cameras. It’s smaller, “light” version is the L73 — it’s got a 3x optical and 5x digital zoom, plus a 2.5″ LCD. They also released the 6 megapixel S630 and the 7 megapixel S730, both with similar features and a really nice user interface. Meanwhile, the new S850 is a sweet 8 megapixel job, and the S1050 is 10.1 megapixel with a sharper 5x digital zoom lens. Both feature “Intelligent Face Recognition Technology” that adjusts the focus and exposure for portrait shots, any time it sees people.

The Samsung L700 is another good choice if you’re in the market for a slim metal camera that’s 7.2 megapixels. Its body is under an inch thick, but it packs 20MB of memory and an SD/SDHC/MMC slot into its frame *AND* a 2.5″ display. The L700 also has MPEG-4 recording - all in a form factor slim enough to fit in your pocket. Look for it soon, with a $250 price tag.

Check back, we’ll post links to these new cameras as soon as J&R has them.
