Samsung Takes on the iPhone with its Instinct

Since last June when it was released, the Apple iPhone has sat pretty much unchallenged on top of the heap of cell phones on the market, standing alone as the most desirable device in all the land. No other phones have really come close to it’s gee-whiz novelty or full functionality. Well, it’s about time for the other cell phone manufacturers to rise to the challenge, starting with Samsung and its upcoming Instinct, due this year on Sprint.
The Instinct comes with a super-fast EVDO Rev. A connection, which is much faster than the iPhone’s EDGE connection, and it also one ups Apple by including GPS, allowing the phone to give turn-by-turn directions and do location-based searches. The screen is a localized haptic touchscreen, meaning the screen vibrates when and where you touch it, making it feel more like using real buttons. It also has a camera, mobile TV, all the standard media player bells and whistles, and has a completely customizable home screen.
So what do you think, has Apple met its match? Will the Instinct be able to take on the mighty iPhone? Time will tell.
