The new Samsung SGH-F520, just announced today at the 3GSM conference in Barcelona, is one of the slickest and most innovative phones to see the light of day in ages. Featuring two sliding keypads, it delivers a number of ways to control it while keeping a small package. If you slide the keypad down, you’ll get a number pad and directional controls. If you turn it sideways, you can slide out a full QWERTY keyboard for texting, writing emails, and surfing the web using its speedy HSDPA mobile broadband connection.
In addition to the innovative keypads, it’s got a touchscreen as well, allowing you to control it without sliding out anything at all. It certainly is reminiscent of the upcoming and super-hyped iPhone, but the speedier connection and slide-out keypads actually put it a step above Apple’s offering, in this writers opinion. Slap on some extra features such as a generous 3-megapixel camera with flash and a full HTML web browser and you’ve got one of the hottest smartphones to ever be released. There’s no word on if or when this will see the light of day in the states, but it’s safe to say that Apple is hoping it stays over in Korea for a long, long time.
