At this point, everyone knows about South Park. What was once an over-the-top and offensive cartoon on the fledgling Comedy Central network is now an extremely long-running show that takes on topical issues in our society with some of the most biting satire found anywhere. It’s, surprisingly enough, become one of the smartest shows on TV. It seems to just get better and better.
In fact, some of the best episodes in the show’s history were made during season 10, which just came out on DVD. For example, there’s the episode where the boys get obsessed with World of Warcraft, which became an instant classic when the millions of obsessive players saw it. Then there’s the episode that deals with former Chef voice Issac Hayes leaving the show due to them mocking Scientology. As to be expected, they take him, Scientology, and his leaving the show in the most clever and hilarious way possible. If you haven’t seen the show in a while and only remember the early gross-out episodes, you owe it to yourself to check out the new season. It’s still pretty gross, but it’s smart gross. That counts for something, right?
