Serenity Arrives on Blu-ray

Serenity is the movie adaptation of the sci-fi series Firefly by Josh Whedon. Firefly was short lived, but was kept alive with strong DVD sales by Browncoats. A Browncoat was the named used for fans of the series.

Serenity made its high definition debut on HD DVD and it was great. This new blu-ray versions expands on the impressive precedent set by HD DVD, by maintaining the same highly impressive 1080p video transfer, but also includes a DTS-HD MA lossless audio track. The HD DVD version did not have lossless audio.

The plot of the movie evolves around a girl named River Tam. She has psychic abilities and was being held captive by ruthless Government officials who had hopes of using her powers as a weapon. Her brother helps her escape. They eventually meet up with a motley crew of mercenaries for hire aboard their spacecraft called Serenity. Mayhem and adventure ensue from there.

If you like sci-fi, then this movie is a no brainer. I also highly recommend the Firefly series in case you want a deeper back story.
