Now that CES is over, we have to come back down to reality. Sure watchphones and other prototype gadgets are cool, but what about products that will actually see the light of day in mass quantities? Something realistic and tangible. Something with an expected ship date. Something we might consider owning, or at the very least, something we can view in the flesh.
Sharp decided to bring the future here and now. Starting later this month, they will begin rolling out Aquos LCD displays with built-in blu-ray drives. How wicked is that? The first three displays to be released will be a 32 inch, 37 inch and 42 inch model. A 46 inch and 52 incher will be released in February.
These displays will incorporate 120Hz cinemotion technology to provide optimal video playback. The three larger displays will have 4 HDMI inputs, while the two smaller ones will be equipped with 3 HDMI inputs. The blu-ray drive will be slot loading, so you won’t have to deal with pesky drives. It blends right in. The display is also smart enough to automatically begin playing once a blu-ray disc has been loaded into the slot.
You can read the official press release here.
Naturally, J&R will keep you abreast of any information regarding these displays as the release date draws near.
