Somi, American born of Rwandese and Ugandan parents was raised in Zambia, Kenya, and Tanzania. Heritage and experience informs her music effortlessly blending Jazz, Soul and African styles and influences. Today, she and guitarist, Herve Samb performed in the Jazz Store in J&R Music World. This video playlist starts with a short interview with Somi where she speaks of her family, African, Jazz and other influences on her music. It continues through all six songs Somi and Herve Samb performed. “Natural”, “Ingele”, “Mbabazi”, “Circles”, “Quietly” and “African Lady” all from Somi’s newly released CD Red Soil In My Eyes. 10% of the album’s April sales will benefit the Rwanda Survivor’s Fund.
