Though the price may not be within everyone’s grasp, Sony Electronics is pushing the screen-size envelope as it projects a release of a Sony Bravia series LCD TV with a 70-Inch diagonal screen by the end of February 2007.
Touting a 7000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (1300:1 static contrast) and 1920×1080 resolution for up to 1080p HDTV viewing, Sony’s KD-L70XBR3 will have the largest LCD screen available, thus far into 2007.
This Bravia model will be able to accept an optional Sony Internet Module permitting Internet access and browsing. Imagine viewing videos off the web on a 70” screen. Sony and AOL issued an arrangement at CES 2007 where AOL would act as a video provider for the Sony Bravia line. It also has an HD 15-pin input that lets you use the KDL70 as a display for your PC.
Considering that a 42-inch LCD screen was the largest available at the dawn of 2006, this screen is nearly twice the size. We’re definitely heading into a magnificent realm of home theater.
