Sony Makes a Case Against Earbuds

Sony MDR-XD100

Earbuds are the most ubiquitous style of headphones around these days, with the tiny devices coming standard with most portable audio players such as the iPod and their size lending them nicely to being stored in pockets when not in use. That does not, however, make them the best headphones around. If you’re looking for sound quality and comfort over portability and convenience, a decent pair of over-the-ear headphones can give you much more bang for your buck.

These Sony MDR-XD100 Studio Monitor Series Headphones fit comfortably over your ears rather than forcing themselves into your ear cavities, allowing you to listen longer without any discomfort. They’re larger, allowing for more powerful speaker mechanisms to be included for improved sound. And they’re a heck of a lot cheaper than mid and high end earbuds, saving a hit on your wallet as well.
