Sony’s had a tough time getting their PSP handheld gaming console off store shelves, especially when it has to compete with Nintendo’s ultra-popular DS Lite. But that doesn’t mean they’ll go down without a fight. This is Sony, after all. So they’ve just announced an upgrade to the PSP: the PSP Slim.
What differences are there between the original and the new PSP Slim? Well, first of all, it’s, uh, slimmer. 19% slimmer, to be exact, as well as 33% lighter. It also boasts longer battery life, faster load times, and it also has video outputs for sending the signal to your TV. That means you can run movies and shows from your PSP to your TV, which is pretty neat. Will all this be enough to help the PSP get a foothold in the portable gaming market, maybe even toppling the DS Lite off its mountain? Time will tell, but a lineup of great games for the diminutive console wouldn’t hurt.
