Steal a Sidekick, Get Humiliated on the Internet!
Here’s a story that could only happen in New York. This poor guy’s friend lost her Sidekick II in an NYC taxi, but managed to track it down electronically (yay for technology!). Guess what? The person who took the Sidekick refuses to give it back! They’ve been sending nasty & threatening e-mails back & forth for two days now; the exchange is funny, and just so typical for New York. Not to condone thievery, but it’s sort of understandable. No matter how honest you are, if you came across a Sidekick in a cab you’d be so impressed by it that you’d hold onto it yourself.
You’ve probably seen the Sidekick II being used by Paris Hilton, those MTV Real World/Road Rules people, and assorted noisy teenage mallrats. Don’t let any of that turn you off; you should never judge technology by the people who use it. It’s the hot thing right now for a good reason: The SK II is actually a damn useful piece of equipment. It’s unique-looking, has a good-sized screen and offers a lot of PDA-like functions. When you get one, make sure you keep a close eye on it — it’s so good that if you drop or misplace it, you might never see it again.
