Step Your Photography Up with Nikon’s D40

Nikon D40

Digital SLR cameras, or DSLRs, are the cream of the camera crop, delivering the highest-quality shots you can get for your money. Unfortunately, they tend to be rather bulky and really expensive. However, if you want to do more than a point-and-shoot can deliver for you, a DSLR is definitely the way to go.

Nikon, a leader in camera design for many years now, is releasing their latest DSLR, the D40, and it’s a beauty. Smaller than most DLSRs (although you probably still won’t be slipping it into any pockets in the near future) and cheaper as well at $600 with an included lens, the D40 is the perfect entrance to the world of high-end digital cameras. It packs 6 megapixels and a healthy 2.5-inch LCD screen on the back. All you lose by stepping down from a model that costs twice as much is a secondary LCD screen used for status indicators and fancy features like bracketing. All in all, this is the camera to get if you want to step up from your trusty Powershot.
