  • 2012 International CES Opens Jan. 10

With the International Consumer Electronics Show 2012 just around the corner (Jan. 10 to Jan. 13), we here at J&R are like kids waiting for the candy store to open. This year’s show promises to be the biggest one yet.

CES has always been about looking forward. It has been about introducing us to the next great bit of technology that can enrich our lives and alter the way we experience the world. Like the Kindle Fire, which along with its siblings Kindle Touch and the basic Kindle, sold a million units a week during the month of December. This CES should be no different.

  • 3D In A Headset? Coming To A Visor near You!

In the past, 3D entertainment was almost exclusively the sole possession of the Motion Picture Industry. With the advent of 3D televisions, this form of entertainment was now made available to the consumer. Next month, Sony will take that to the next level with the release of its Personal 3D Viewer. This lightweight headset is purported to provide a true 3D experience via direct wired link to a 3D source. Source material has always been a pitfall of 3D technology and with a little over 80 movies, a few video games, and next to no broadcasts it still is. That being said Sony is betting on the refined technologies built into the system to push sales of the new device. The two 0.7inch screens are composed of organic light emitting diodes (LED) that allow each eye to see a different image. These images are combined in the brain to give them the illusion of depth.

  • Recharge Your iPhone with the Fastmac iV

Now here’s a device that I think is really cool. It’s the Fastmac iV. The Fastmac iV is a 3100mAh battery that you attach directly to your iPhone when the battery is running low.

The Fastmac iV also has a USB port on its bottom. This lets you charge an extra device simultaneously as the iPhone charges. A built-in flash LED light can be used for emergencies or low light situations.
