Tarrus Riley comes to J&R Music World (directions) Tuesday, August 4th for a 12:30 pm in-store performance, after which he will sign copies of his new album, Contagious.
The secret to the success of Tarrus Riley, believe it or not, is quite simple - “when preparation meets opportunity”, stated a self-assured Riley. “I’ve been surrounded by music all my life. My father is a singer and my mother is a bathroom singer”, he explains with a chuckle. “Because I can’t change the world, I sing for the people - this is the contribution I can make and after I make a song; it isn’t even mine anymore; it belongs to the people.”

Emerging from Springfield, Massachusetts in 1995, this D.I.Y. band ultimately found legions of fans, worldwide fame, two Grammy nominations, and even a song on Guitar Hero. Of course, none of this came from luck. Instead, hard work and musical innovation have been the forces propelling Shadows Fall, continually revealing ever more of this band’s Continue Reading »

The songwriting takes center stage on the latest release, Poseidon And The Bitter Bug (DeLuxe Edition), The duo barreled through the recording process in three weeks flat in Atlanta with longtime bassist Clare Kenny, session-pro drummer Matt Chamberlain, engineer David Boucher, and veteran producer, arranger, and keyboardist Mitchell Froom, all of whom they’ve worked with before. “I’m very conscious and music is the number-one source of expression and emotion,” - J. Holiday.
Live @ J&R Music World, 6pm, March 10, J. Holiday will perform and sign copies of his lastest CD release, “Round 2”
When J. Holiday talks earnestly of “following my dreams” and “being in love with music,” it’s not a deliberately sympathetic portrayal by a partial writer. In fact, J.’s talent is matched -in rarity and intensity–only by his enthusiasm. His candor and vulnerability are refreshing
J. Holiday has made a home in fans’ hearts and ears. In turn, his epic one-year odyssey has opened his own eyes: “Being inside the game has given me a whole different perspective. I would like to think that I’m very good at what I do, and I believe in my craft, but I still feel blessed. I have done a lot more than some very talented people who were in my position at one point in time, in the timeframe that I’ve done it. I’m still new to all this. But I can’t worry myself about what other people are doing. I know just by staying me, my music is going to stand on its own.” So too will the world stand, and applaud.
Beloved singer, Dudu Fisher will perform and sign autographs 12:30pm at J&R Music World, Monday, March 9, on the same day as the 8pm WLIW New York broadcast of his first Public Television Special. Outside New York Area, check your local listings for times in your area. Shot on location in Israel at the historic Beit She’an archaeological site, Fisher electrifies the audience with a blend of Broadway show tunes and traditional Jewish folk songs.
Through his music and stories, Fisher takes the audience on an inspired journey connecting his talent as a Broadway performer, cantor, and contemporary artist with the beauty of Israel’s landscape, culture and people.
Adding to fisher’s accomplishments are his staring role in the film “The Road to Glory”, acting as host on an Israeli television series and appearing on innumerable radio and television programs throughout the world. Dudu’s fall 2004 one-man show “Dudu Fisher coming to America” which features selections from “fiddler on the roof”, “The Jazz Singer” and “Yentl” began in Jerusalem and continues from the opera house in Sydney Australia to Madison square garden in New York, from the Budapest Opera House to the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. Dudu Fisher spends most of the year traveling around the globe bringing joy to millions of people.
