  • PMA2010 Means New cameras For 2010

    PMA2010 means lots of new cameras for 2010 and the buys are better than ever.

    Photo Merchandisers Association is having their 2010 show in Anaheim, California, and it really looks like digital cameras are maturing. You can find 12 megapixel cameras delivering 4000×3000 resolution stills for less than $100. All cameras are challenging the camcorder market as they offer 1280×720 movie resolution for 720p HDTV viewing. Some higher priced cameras deliver 1920×1080 for full HD widescreen capability in movie mode. The show will take place from February 21 to 23.

    Nikon, Fuji, Canon, Pentax and all other manufacturers are announcing new models at PMA-2010. It’s the show that will introduce a wide variety of cameras and accessories. Pentax was among the first to release info on part of their new camera line.

    Pentax Imaging Company announced three new compact digital cameras. Most unique is the slim and stylish Pentax Optio I-10 with a design inspired by the classic look of film SLR cameras. The new Optio features a flash unit and speaker in the upper mid-section of the SLR-shaped body while the camera’s front panel is embellished with high quality leatherette texture and the classic Pentax logo placed front and center.   • Nikon Coolpix S1000pj Digital Camera Projector

    Digital cameras carve out new ways of displaying and sharing pictures. Arriving in time for Christmas 2009, the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is a 12-megapixel digital camera with a built-in projector. Take a picture. View it on the built-in 2.7-inch screen. Then you can project it (or all you’ve taken and stored on an SD card) on a wall or screen for all to see. It even includes a projector stand and a wireless remote!

    With 5x Nikon optical zoom; the Coolpix S1000pj has a 28mm to 140mm (35mm equivalent) range from wide-angle to telephoto. Shoot landscapes, group shots, or come in for a close shot. The 12-megapixel photo-sensors deliver pictures with up to 4000×3000 pixel resolution. All images are stored on an optional and removable SDHC memory card plus 36MB memory is built-in to the camera.
