  • God of War Collection Arrives on the PS3

God of War burst unto the scene like a juggernaut in early 2005. It was by far the best action game on the PS2. Kratos, the protagonist in the game is a Spartan warrior. He was a loyal servant of Ares, the God of war. Ares bestowed a godly weapon called the blades of chaos on Kratos. These deadly, swinging blades were wielded to his forearms. Over the course of time, Kratos committed massacres on the command of Ares. Unbeknown to Kratos, he killed his family on one of his murderous rampages. Grief stricken, his pain turned to rage when he found out that Ares had tricked him into killing his family. As you can guess by now, the tale is one of revenge. Kratos goes on a journey to destroy Ares, and usurp the title of the God of war.

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Has Arrived

The long wait is finally over. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is finally here. Modern Warfare 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Modern Warfare 2 picks up a few years after the first game. Like all veteran COD players know, you get to traverse various locales in the different mission settings. You will fight in Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Brazil and a bombed out Washington D.C. The single player is brief and intense.

After the single player campaign, grab a partner and jump into the Special Ops mode. It’s a cooperative mode that uses locales from the single player not related to that campaign. You can play Special Ops alone, but what fun is that? Coop is definitely the preferred way to play this mode.

  • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - The Highest Rated Game on the PS3

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. So what’s the verdict on the sequel? It is superb. It’s currently the highest rated console game of the year on gamerankings.

Without giving away spoilers, you resume the role of the protagonist, Nathan Drake. The adventure starts a few years after the first game. Nathan is tasked with investigating the mysterious voyage of Marco Polo from China in 1292. Marco Polo left with fourteen ships and had a crew of over 600 men. However, Polo only arrived with one ship and a crew of 18.

Nathan traverses different terrains, and exotic locales to get to the bottom of this mystery. I won’t say anymore, but I will say that this is the best looking game I have ever played, and I have played just about everything. The graphics are stellar. Check out the IGN video review below. If you have a PS3, you’d be foolish not to buy this game.

  • Batman: Arkham Asylum Garners Critical Acclaim

Batman: Arkham Asylum has been garnering critical acclaim from critics. It has been unanimously praised. This is not an easy task for a game based on comics. Comicbook and film translations into videogame territory for the most part are abysmal. Most come out just in time, or close to the release of the film counterpart to drive sales. Creativity is usually an afterthought, so what makes it to the shelves are soulless, lame, buggy games that was most likely the brainchild of a marketing exec, and not a game developer.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is the prequel to Call of Juarez. The game tells the tale of Ray and Thomas McCall, two brothers on a quest for the Gold of Juarez. You can play as either Ray or Thomas, using each brother’s expertise to help you overcome outlaw opponents like a renegade Apache chief, a rogue Mexican bandit and a colonel out for vengeance. When done with the single-player campaign, take the game online for intense multi-player action.

  • The PS3 Logitech Harmony Remote Adapter Arrives

The PS3 in my opinion is one of the biggest bargains in the CE industry. In addition to being a fantastic video game console, it also doubles as a fine blu-ray player. In fact, when blu-ray player choices were slim, many people bought the console solely for blu-ray playback.

However, there was one caveat with using the PS3 as a blu-ray player; the remote issue. The PS3 is a bluetooth device, so it obviously won’t work with most universal remotes on the market that are either IR or RF. Up until now, your options were the cumbersome PS3 controller which is fine for games, not so much for movies. Another option was the PS3 bluetooth remote which worked fine, but defeated the purpose of getting a universal remote in the first place. No one wants to buy a universal remote, only to purchase another remote.

  • Do You Want To Know a Secret? The Beatles: Rock Band is Coming!

It has been rumored for months now, but Apple Corps LTD., MTV and Harmonix finally announced the long awaited “The Beatles: Rock Band” game earlier today. This is the first time ever that Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison have given their blessings for a Beatles based videogame. Although not much is known at the moment, a few details are emerging.

The game will take players on a journey from the Beatles’ beginning through their astronomical rise to superstardom. A song list isn’t available yet, but with a catalog the size of the Fab Four’s, there will certainly be no shortage of songs to choose from. Giles Martin, son of Sir George Martin, the Beatles long-time producer, will serve as the music producer on the game.

As for the the instrument kit, will it include a replica of McCartney’s Hofner Bass? Lennon’s Rickenbacker? Will the drum kit have the Beatles logo printed on the front? Nobody knows just yet, but we’re eager to find out!

If you already have Rock Band and don’t want to shell out for the whole kit again, you can always just pick up the software alone. “The Beatles: Rock Band” will be out in September 9th for the Xbox360, PS3 & Wii. Check back here for more information as it comes out!
