  • 3D In A Headset? Coming To A Visor near You!

In the past, 3D entertainment was almost exclusively the sole possession of the Motion Picture Industry. With the advent of 3D televisions, this form of entertainment was now made available to the consumer. Next month, Sony will take that to the next level with the release of its Personal 3D Viewer. This lightweight headset is purported to provide a true 3D experience via direct wired link to a 3D source. Source material has always been a pitfall of 3D technology and with a little over 80 movies, a few video games, and next to no broadcasts it still is. That being said Sony is betting on the refined technologies built into the system to push sales of the new device. The two 0.7inch screens are composed of organic light emitting diodes (LED) that allow each eye to see a different image. These images are combined in the brain to give them the illusion of depth.

  • Sony TRiK offers iPod Dock Speaker System

At Apple’s conference on 1/27, Steve Jobs announced that 250 million iPods have thus far been sold. Considering a world population of 6.7 billion people, that’s one iPod for every 27 people. Obviously Apple is seeking more market penetration. This means only 1 in every 27 people can listen to an iPod within the privacy of their own ears. IPod speaker systems let more people listen to iTunes.

Among the many audio speaker manufacturers clamoring for a way to accessorize those iPods, Sony has a trick up its sleeve. Did I say trick? Sorry, I meant Trik.

The Sony TRiK iPod Dock Speaker System is designed to play your favorite tracks stored on a compatible iPhone or iPod MP3 player. This speaker system delivers high-performance sound with 75 Watts of total power output. It includes an aux-in jack for use with other MP3 players or for plugging right into your PC. The stylish speaker system also charges your iPod or iPhone while it’s docked and includes a wireless remote.

  • HDTV Moves on to 3D TV

The transition to digital TV opens so many new possibilities that were once only figments of imaginations. The HDTV revolution seems to be maturing at an alarmingly fast rate. As all networks clamor to meet current widescreen standards, 3D HDTV isn’t merely gestating. It’s being born.

Panasonic and Sony have been demonstrating 3D HDTV screens in other electronics shows for the past year. It appears that 3D TV models may start becoming available within 2010. Many production studios are releasing movies in 3D. The success of the recent release, Avatar, demonstrates an enthusiastic appeal. Now it appears that speculation may become relaity as content and distribution networks partner to create 3D television within 2010.

Sony, the Discovery Channel and IMAX Tuesday announced plans to launch the first-ever dedicated 3D television network, which will debut in 2011. In a separate announcement, ESPN said it will launch a 3D channel of its own later this summer, in time to broadcast the World Cup soccer tournament in June.

  • Skype goes HD on Internet TV at CES 2010

One of the trends appearing in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is Internet Embedded TV. So far, HDTV leaders like Sony, Philips, Samsung, Panasonic and LG plan to offer Internet capability on selected TV models. Peer-2-Peer (P2P) Internet TV has been one of the alternative marketing means to provide streams of audio, video, and informational channels via broadband Internet connection through TV. Online streaming businesses like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, and Pandora have been negotiating with TV manufacturers to set arrangements for the creation of P2P channels. One of these is Skype, famous for offering discount telephone calling via Internet.

Internet Embedded TV helps shift programming from Internet sources in direct competition with current Cable, Satellite, and Broadcast methods. This will open an entire new flow of TV entertainment through broadband Internet access.

Unlike a PC, TV is primarily a receiver. Websites need to embed their software as channels into the TV’s circuitry for initialization through broadband access. Continue Reading »

  • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - The Highest Rated Game on the PS3

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. So what’s the verdict on the sequel? It is superb. It’s currently the highest rated console game of the year on gamerankings.

Without giving away spoilers, you resume the role of the protagonist, Nathan Drake. The adventure starts a few years after the first game. Nathan is tasked with investigating the mysterious voyage of Marco Polo from China in 1292. Marco Polo left with fourteen ships and had a crew of over 600 men. However, Polo only arrived with one ship and a crew of 18.

Nathan traverses different terrains, and exotic locales to get to the bottom of this mystery. I won’t say anymore, but I will say that this is the best looking game I have ever played, and I have played just about everything. The graphics are stellar. Check out the IGN video review below. If you have a PS3, you’d be foolish not to buy this game.
