Keyboards are so 20th century. Sure, you might be used to them by now and you might be able to type 80 words per minute, but chances are good that you can speak faster than you can type. Why mess with your body’s natural text output device? Computers are smart enough to understand you now, so you might as well take advantage.
Nuance Communications Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred 9 is the gold standard for voice recognition software. It learns as you use it, so once you spend a bit of time “training” it to get used to your voice, you can look forward to 99% accuracy. That means you can sit back with your hands behind your head while you talk and your computer writes it all down. It’ll transport you back to the days when secretaries would take dictation, as executives were too lazy to figure out how to type. Not exactly the good old days, but hey, anything that’ll let you play with a yo-yo or make an origami swan while you write a letter is OK in my book.
