The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. Established in 1996 during the Web’s infancy, the Webbys are presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a 550-member body of leading Web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities.

Special Achievement Awards

  • Webby Lifetime Achievement: Tim Berners-Lee
    Recognizing of his enormous contribution to the world of Internet technology and communications.
  • Webby Artist of the Year: Trent Reznor
    Recognizing his album, The Slip, which debuted for free download in May 2008 on his website.
  • Webby Person of the Year: Jimmy Fallon
    Recognizing his entusiastic embrace of the Internet to connect with his fans.
  • Webby Breakout of the Year: Twitter
    Embodying the democratic spirit of the Web.
  • Best Actress: Sarah Silverman
    Recognizing her utilization of the political power of the Internet with “The Great Schlep.”
  • Outstanding Comedic Performance: Lisa Kudrow
    Recognizing her for starring, co-writing, and co-producing “Web Therapy” on lstudio.com.
  • Film & Video Person of the Year:
    Seth MacFarlane
    Recognizing his Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy animated videos distributed through Google’s content network and on sethcomedy.com.
  • Agency of the Year:
    R/GA
    Recognizing the most successful agency across all Webby categories including interactive advertising, websites, mobile sites, and online film and video.
