I bought one a couple of weeks ago and it's fantastic. Works like a charm. I guess the next step for me will be the Wifi internet clock radio Aluratek has. When it falls to the right price point….I'm jumping in and getting one.

I guess there's nothing from stopping you from using this on a laptop. Also recording any of the streams. For an old radio fan, this is fantastic!

This is a real cool feature..and I am wondering is this Safe to use at work?

yeah, any sys adimins out there? it would be accessing the same IP addresses as your browser would be. If there are blocked domains, I wonder if the device would get thru? Probably not. It would be subject to the same firewall nonsense as the your work computer. The beauty here is that it's so cheap, you an afford to try it, i'm sure we'd all find some situation where it's the perfect thing.

Please note – If you use a high resolution setting on you monitor (i.e. 1792 x1344) the unit's software does not 'scale' to the resolution, so things get crowded.

Otherwise – it's a nice toy, shortwave radio for a new generation. However, I don't like the CONTINUOUS advertising banner that takes up 20-25% of the window, add in the two Aluratek banners and 33% of the software's window is used up by advertising – NOT a good thing.

Soooooooo, overall it's a nice idea but it needs work – maybe like MS, you need to wait till v2 before things REALLY fall into place.

BTW – there is a software program that plays this tune: Screamer
    Radio.

This is for the review by OldMan: How do you think they provide free service? TANSTAAFL = There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch…..someone has to pay for the service. I don't mind the ads to get 13,000 stations FREE!! Enjoy. T

13000 station for free – it is too good to be true, but I have a problem:

Service intrerrapted too frequently…. Maybe I have to change it ?

you cannot record any of the streams, unless you find some “hack” way to do it. you can only add a stream as a favorite…like setting a radio station as a preset in your car.

    very helpful article

It is a pretty good device. However, I don't believe you can access all 13,000 internet stations that it is touted to be able to access. Many of these station are either closed-down or don't operate except limited hours of the day.
You must unplug it and plug it back into the computer each time you start your computer. The computer won't recognize it otherwise.

What operating system are you using? I heard it does not work on Win7. Can you use it while working in other applications with little or no lag time??

  • Roger B.

I read a review that said it would not work with Win 7 without an upgarde to the firmware and you have to use a PC with Vista or XP in order to install the upgrade. If I purchase this, is there an easy way to get it to work with Win 7 ??

As you put your computer  through its paces installing and uninstalling
software your System folder gathers a ton of DELL files. Over time, you'll
accumulate DELL files you no longer need hogging disk space and causing your
system to run sluggishly. Clean System Directory scans your system looking for
all references to DELL files in your System directory. When it finds DELL files
that have no programs calling them,
