Garmin is a leading manufacturer of GPS devices. Their products have always been well reviewed and received. Their latest GPS device, the Garmin Nuvi 500 not only works in vehicles, it will also serve as a handheld device for those who like to go mountain climbing or hiking. Despite the generous 3.5” screen, it weighs in at only 7.6 ounces, so taking it with you on any trek won’t be an issue.
In terms of features, the Garmin Nuvi 500 will have preloaded City Navigator and topographic maps of the contiguous 48 U.S. states, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, as well as navigation charts for boating. It is also water and dust resistant, so taking it off the beaten path isn’t ill advised.
The NYTimes recently reviewed the Garmin Nuvi 500, and it was well received. The Garmin Nuvi 500 is available for pre-order here at J&R and it will be shipping soon.
