The History Behind “First Templar”

The crusades were marches into Arabia, the Ottoman Empire, in quests by Christianity to convert the Moors. The Knights Templar is a Christian-oriented fraternal organization that was founded in the 11th century. The area had seen a number of religions from Judaism to pagan types. During this era, the foundations of Islam originated and formerly disunited people became warriors against Christianity and its expansion. These groups often clashed and Christians wanted to protect themselves.
Originally, the Knights Templar was a group of laymen who protected and defended Christians travelling to Jerusalem. These men took vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, and were renowned for their fierceness and courage in battle. The adventures of these knights, true or false, show unwaving bravery of defending might and right. The First Templar is a game for PC and X360. It covers the earlier years of the Templars – the formation, early adventures, and evolutions through peace and imminent dangers in contrast with the formation of the church.
Within two decades of the victory of the First Crusade (1095-1099) a group of knights led by Hugues (Hugh) de Payens offered themselves to the Patriarch of Jerusalem to serve as a military force.
This group – often said to be nine in number – had the mandate of protecting Christian pilgrims who were en route to the Holy Land to visit the shrines sacred to their faith. Somewhere between the years of AD 1118 – 1120, King Baldwin II granted the group quarters in a wing of the Royal Palace on the Temple Mount (the Al Aqsa Mosque). It has been generally accepted that, for the first nine years of their existence, the Templars – as they came to be known.
The legends of these knights span the centuries, intertwined with the adventures of seeking the Holy Grail.
The First Templar is a new co-operative action adventure game for the Xbox 360 and PC. The game follows the story of a French Templar and his companions. Taking control over these two unlikely allies, the player must uncover the mysteries behind the Templar Order, play a role in a grand conspiracy, and discover the secret of the Holy Grail. The heroes face powerful opponents at every turn, in the face of the Saracen, King Philip IV of France and the Inquisition. It’s an educational adventure of the highest, ancient order to defend and support Christian development in tenuous times.
The First Templar tells the story of two heroes – Celian and Marie, who together will unravel the mysteries of the Holy Grail. When playing solo, you can switch between heroes and the game’s AI takes control of the second character. At any time a second player can join in, taking command of the AI character.
The game has an ESRB rating of T, suitable for Teens, due to blood, language, and violence.
