At CES earlier this year, LG unveiled their future flagship display, the 55LHX. It’s a 55 inch LED backlit display, and we are finally closing in on the release. LCDs with LED backlighting seems to all the rage these days. They try to address the inherent flaws in LCD technology, like poor black levels and motion problems. The LG 55LHX promises to address those problems, but it doesn’t stop there. LG is calling the 55LHX a wireless LED display.
So what makes it wireless? The 55LHX comes equipped with a separate base station that all your AV cables are plugged into. The display itself only has a single HDMI input. This is a great idea for neatness and cable management. The base station has a range of 30 feet, so it should be fairly close to the display.
In terms of aesthetics, the 55LHX is a looker. It’s visually stunning and slim. Without the stand, it only weighs a little over 57lbs. This is a 55 inch television! I can’t wait to see this in action when it’s available.
