The Perfect Mobile Computer is Spelled ‘Eee’

Asus EEE 900PC

The ASUS Eee PC has become a huge hit, providing a great, super-portable computer for bargain-basement prices. While earlier models came with a custom version of the Linux operating system, the Eee PC 900 comes loaded with Linux or the more familiar Windows XP. If you’ve been holding back, now’s the perfect time to try an Eee.

Why are these little things so popular? Well, the tiny notebooks have 8.9-inch screens, making them much smaller than a standard laptop. That means you can toss the 2-pound computer in your backpack and bring it with you wherever you go. It’s got special shock-proof technology built in to make sure it stands up to just such portage. Inside, it has an Intel mobile chipset, 1GB of memory and 12GB of storage. It’s not going to be playing any high-powered 3D games anytime soon, but if you’re looking for a portable internet machine that’ll allow you to surf the web and check your email from wherever, you really can’t go wrong with the Eee.
