
The Police are getting back together. They’ll be performing at this year’s Grammy Awards on February 11th. Billboard magazine first reported rumors of a reunion, and music blogs everywhere spread rumors that they’d been practicing in a “secret” location in Vancouver, Canada. The rumors all proved true: They were indeed practicing in Vancouver & the Grammy performance is the first show in an 80-city world tour. This will be the first Police tour in 20 years.
It’s weird for a superstar band to stop like they did. The Police were all over the charts from 1979 to 1984, then just gave up recording. Tensions in the group were just too high; there were stories of the band members getting into fistfights in the recording studio. The Police last toured in 1986, then moved on to solo careers, with Sting being the most successful. Now they’re back and we couldn’t be happier. The Police mixed punk guitars with reggaerhythms to make a rock sound unlike anything else, before or since. When they come around, we’re there. Here’s what we hope is on the set list:
