The Tenth Anniversary of 9/11

The events of September 11, 2001 transformed not only our Lower Manhattan neighborhood, but the entire world.

We at J&R remember that day with great sadness, but also with admiration for the many heroes who gave their lives on that date, and the many more heroes who have contributed since.

Our stores are only a block away from the site, and the attacks caused us to close our doors for six weeks. But we came back stronger, as did all of Downtown.

We look back at the decade since with great pride in the progress at Ground Zero and in New York City.

And we look forward to the future of the entire area — and J&R’s place in it — with hope and excitement.

    I'm from a small town in Canada you never heard of. The only time I was ever in the WTC was after taking the train from where I was staying NJ on my way to your store while visiting NY for a weekend not long before the attacks. 

    I couldn't believe the size of the building. One of the police in the building saw my perplexed look trying to figure out where I was going – He directed me how to get out towards park row. Really friendly guy – we had a laugh at how lost I was in that giant place. Just brief contacts but I still remember and wonder if he was one of the people who were there helping people out. Did he make it? Did he have a family?

    You realize how we're all connected. Enjoyed my visit to your store too. Good luck to you all in that area and NYC as a whole.

    I've been a loyal customer always. Anytime I need ANYTHING I trek downtown from Queens to visit and spend money. I was at the store the day you opened back up in Nov. 2001 and bought of all things, a SONY Tape Deck. Rochelle and Joe, thanks for the EWF concert Thurs and thanks for the birthday gift which I used instantly to buy yet MORE toys for myself. This note of gratiude is coming from the J&R CAFE that I try to visit every day.
    I wish both of you which is of course J&R the best of health and wealth and olny good times forever and ever.
