This Weeks New CD Releases
This week’s new releases have something for any taste or interest. Tuesday saw the latest Jessica Simpson album, A Public Affair, dropping in stores all over the country. Depending on what you listen to, that’s either good news or another sign of the Apocalypse. More discerning music fans will probably be more into the latest Bob Dylan album. Modern Times continues his winning streak; his last two albums have been a return to form for the legendary songwriter and performer. Any fan of well-written music that combines all the classic American forms of music into something new will appreciate it. For a similar feel in a new kind of sound, Outkast’s new Idlewild draws from old-school jazz and blues for hip-hop on a different tip.
Fans of Jamaican dancehall will be thrilled by Beenie Man’s newest, Unidsputed. The Hispanic-flavored hip-hop & reggaeton of Tego Caldreon makes a comeback in El Subestimado. Hip-hop heads should also check out Method Man’s 4:21… The Day After. It’s also worth mentioning that The Roots, one of hip-hop’s innovators, just dropped Game Theory.
If you’re looking for a real classic piece of rock, The Beach Boys have re-released their classic Pet Sounds. The sunny & baroque sound on this album inspired multiple imitators, most notably The Beatles. The world’s most famous rock band created their famous Sgt. Peppers’ album after hearing Pet Sounds. Pick it up and enjoy a classic piece of modern music.
