When it comes to hard drives, Western Digital is an industry leader, and that’s why their products come highly recommended by us. They recently released three hard drives that caught my attention.
The first hard drive is the My Passport Essential 320GB Portable HD. Like the name suggests, it’s a portable USB drive. There is no need for a separate power supply since the drive is directly powered via the USB port. How cool is that? Don’t let the sleek aesthetics fool you though, this little drive is quite the performer. It comes with the WD SmartWare software that automatically and continuously backs up your data, while giving you a visual display of your backup as it happens. File restoration is a breeze. Password protection and hardware-based encryption are also available for an extra measure of security.
The next two drives are the My Book Essential 2TB External Hard Drive and the My Passport Essential SE 1TB Portable Hard Drive. The My Book Essential comes equipped with an illumination gauge that lets you know how much hard drive space you have left. Taking security to a whole new level, it offers military grade, 256-bit hardware encryption. The My Passport Essential SE is another portable offering, that is virtually a My Passport Essential in a larger capacity.
Depending on your needs, you really cannot go wrong with any of these drives. They are all fantastic.
