Video Gets Simple with The Flip

Sometimes less is more. And this certainly is the case with The Flip. This simple little camcorder by Pure Digital is so well-designed that it’s astounding.
The only moving part is a USB connection, which flips up when a button is pressed– that’s why it’s called The Flip. Just turn The Flip on, press a button to record, and press the same button to stop. It’s that simple. The Flip comes with 1GB of built-in flash memory, enough for 60 minutes of video (there’s also a 30-minute version). You’ll get great results in both low and bright light. The quality will surprise you.
Watch your videos on TV with the supplied cable, or download to your computer (Mac or PC) using the aforementioned flip-up USB connection. Video editing software, which is included, provides instant viewing, editing, and one-click emailing (to YouTube, for example).
The first generation of The Flip is available in a 30 or 60-minute version. The second generation, The Flip Ultra, has been restyled and improved. The Flip Ultra also comes in a 30 or 60-minute version, but the 60-minute edition, for those who crave color, is available in black, white, orange, or pink.
The Flip is so compact that it fits your hand. It will also fit your pocket or handbag. It’ll fit your wallet as well.

After a great deal of research (not on the JR web site) I discovered that the Flip Ultra is not so much restyled as equipped with 2Gb of memory and therefore able to provide better resolution for the 60 minute duration. Too bad it does not accept an outboard memory so when you are caught far from home with the memory full you could offload it to the SD memory.
