The new live album by the Foo Fighters ,Skin & Bones, is simply one of the best live albums we’ve heard in years. They go acoustic here, and revisit their entire career from the first album. The stripped-down sound suits them better than you may think. The Best Of What’s Around Vol. 1 is the first-ever studio compilation by the Dave Matthews Band. It collects all their biggest hits from previous albums, from “Crash Into Me” to “The Space Between.” It’s also got a number of live tracks, to give fans the complete DMB experience.
You probably haven’t heard of Hannah Montana if you don’t have a girl under the age of 13 in your life. It’s a popular show about a teenage girl who becomes a rock star & tries to keep her life as normal as possible. The soundtrack to Hannah Montana was just released, and if you’re looking for harmless, kid-friendly pop you could do a lot worse. From the opening rocker “The Best of Both Worlds” and the emo “Who Said,” to the sweet “Just Like You” and the cover of Earth Wind & Fire’s “Shining Star,” the kid in your life will enjoy every track.
Kirk Franklin: Songs For The Storm, Volume 1 is another hits compilation, this time from the gospel legend. Worship hits abound here, with support from The Family, the NuNation crew and others. Let the Spirit move you with gospel hits like “Conquerors,” “When You Fall,” “He Will Take the Pain Away,” and more.
Another way to feed your soul is with the new Andrea Bocelli album, Under The Desert Sky. It’s a collection of live numbers from his album Amore, along with a few live surprises. He does “Can’t Help Falling in Love” with American Idol’s Katherine McPhee, duets with Stevie Wonder on “Canzone Stonate,” and does great solo versions of “Besame Mucho” and Neil Diamond’s “September Morn.”
