What To Buy…the Gamer

It’s a great time to be a gamer. Even greater, it’s downright awesome to be a gamer during the gift giving season. There has been no shortage of incredible games this fall. The hardest part of compiling this gift guide was narrowing the games down to this list. You certainly are not relegated to this list, as there are many fine games that are out this season. This is just a suggestion.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the critically acclaimed sequel to the first Modern Warfare. If the gamer in your life is an FPS fan, then this should be the first title on your list. It became one of the fastest selling titles in gaming history. The single player is brief and intense, while the multiplayer will be sure to last a very long time. This will be a terrific gift choice.

Dragon Age: Origins in an incredible role playing game developed by BioWare, the devs behind Mass Effect, Star Wars: KOTOR and Jade Empire. There are six origin stories, with their respective playable characters. The character you choose will determine the story arc. Without question, if you have an RPG fan on your list, then this is the game to get them this holiday season.

L4D2 is the highly anticipated sequel to last years hit, Left 4 Dead. The zombie horde is bigger, faster and meaner than ever before. A brand new foursome is left to tackle on the zombie apocalypse in the deep south. From amusement parks to the backwater swamps of Louisiana, the rag tag crew will do anything they can to survive. This would be a great gift choice for the game that likes action, guns and zombies. Lots of zombies.

The New Super Marios Bros. on the Wii harkens back to the simpler times of gaming. It’s the classic 2D affair with Princess Peach being kidnapped by Bowser. Mario, Luigi and crew go on a quest to save the Princess. This would be a great gift for young gamers and for people who still love the classic Nintendo titles.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days carries on the tradition of previous Kingdom Heart games featuring Disney locales and characters. The main protagonist is Roxas, The Nobody of Sora. This is a great title for anyone who is into Disney, Fantasy and Square Enix RPGs.

Assassin’s Creed II, is another sequel in this gift guide list, but it is superb. The story takes place during the Italian Renaissance. The game focuses on assassin and nobleman, Ezio Auditore da Firenze and his dealings of treachery, murder and mayhem. It’s a superb game and would make a great gift for action and stealth gaming fans.

DJ Hero is a game made by the makers of Guitar Hero that focuses strictly on turntablism. You player goes on a quest to be the best DJ in the world. It goes without saying, anyone with even a passing interest in turntables, DJing and music games in general, this would no doubt make an excellent gift.

Call it soccer or football, it doesn’t matter. Fifa Soccer 10 is the best game in the series so far. I’ll go as far to say that it is the best sports simulation title on the market right now. It even surpassed Winning Eleven Soccer. For the sports fan, I don’t think a sports simulation title can get better. I don’t think any sports fan would turn this down, it fantastic.
