As part of Lenovo’s strategy to reach out to a wider scope of PC notebook users, Lenovo is introducing a new ThinkPad laptop series designed to push ThinkPad design and innovation to the edge and, aptly, is simply called The Edge. The 13-inch model represents the first ThinkPad laptop to offer AMD Dual Core processors with AMD’s VISION Pro Technology. In addition to performance, the new laptops are designed with style and affordability in mind for today’s budget-conscious customers. For example, they include new rich and vibrant color choices and a new contemporary keyboard. Aimed at the Small to Medium business (SMB) market, as well as students, the Edge - like the X100e series - is Lenovo’s way of broadening its vision top reach business customers - large and small.
The ThinkPad Edge Series laptops reflect a new progressive and strikingly clean appearance while retaining ThinkPad durability and reliability. For example, the laptops include spill-resistant keyboards and value-added ThinkVantage Technologies like the Active Protection System and Rescue and Recovery.
Lenovo Edge is a sleek, thin, and clean notebook PC running Windows 7. It is available in either black or red. It offers Gigabit Ethernet, WWAN with GPS, 802.11bgn WiFi, Bluetooth and WiMAX connectivity options. It’s designed to suit the mobile user with a 13.3″ widescreen that is light in weight. Designed for planes, trains, and automobiles, the Lenovo Edge has a spill-resistant keyboard and offers up to 7.8 hours of battery life per full charge.
Unlike previous Lenovo models, the Edge is ready for multimedia applications because new businesses must engage modern technologies to spread their messages. It comes with a built-in, low-light sensitive Web Camera ready to be used for Skype communications around the globe. Connectivity includes three USB ports (1 powered), 5-in-1 media card reader and HDMI port. HDMI enables quick connection to digital widescreen HDTV and video accessories to transfer video assets and use with a wide variety of advanced displays.
Lenovo’s outreach to the SMB market is a rather new approach for Lenovo. The manufacturer took over the IBM Thinkpad line a few years ago and focused their line on general business applications. Marking a distinction among big businesses and entrepreneurs is an entirely new concept for the Lenovo line over the past year. In 2010, Lenovo is really extending out to the SMB with serious yet affordable computing solutions.
The Lenovo Edge maintains the traditional features that Lenovo users enjoy. Those include legendary ThinkPad keyboard feel with the streamlined keyboard layout and famous ThinkPad TrackPoint pointing device. Beyond the TrackPoint, the Edge also includes a more traditional multitouch touchpad with zoom, rotate and scroll functionality. Security is vital in business and the Lenovo Edge allows easy password management to protect your business files and offers intelligent system updates to assure your Thinkpad remains current.
At just under 4 pounds, the Edge travels with you offering you a considerable edge with a full office on the go. Get connected, communicate wisely, and build your business plans beyond the monochromatic scope with the multimedia powers that the Lenovo Edge delivers.
