Xbox 360 Drops in Price, Adds Features

XBox 360 Price Drops

If you’ve been holding out on buying a new Xbox 360, arguably the coolest of the next-gen consoles, it might finally be a smart time to buy one. There’s a couple of reasons for that: first of all, they dropped the price. You can now get a Xbox 360 Premium for $350, down from $400, which includes a wireless controller and a 20GB hard drive. The Core is down to $280, but it comes with a wired controller and no hard drive, so I wouldn’t recommend it. The Elite, which has an 120GB hard drive and a black finish, is down to $450.

What makes these an even better deal is that Microsoft has been quietly slipping HDMI outputs onto the Core and Premium models, as well as quieter DVD drives. This was one of the main selling points of the Elite model, but now that it’s on the Premium it’s almost a no-brainer to pick that model up. And with amazing games like Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, BioShock, and Two Worlds coming soon for the Xbox 360, you’re sure to be kept entertained for a long, long time. The wait is over.

Get the extended warranty. I'll say it again...get the extended warranty!
With the warranty you return the console back to the store if there are problems.

1 out of 3 Xbox 360 machines will have hardware failure due to overheating. They use a 90nm chip that gets very hot. The X brace supporting the chip will not allow for expansion and the board cracks.

I sent my brand new console back to Microsoft and they sent me a refurbished machine which is going through the same problems the original machine had. Screen freeze ups, disconnects from on-line play and disc error readings. I have a 6" diameter fan blowing on it while playing games.

Wait for the new machines with the 60nm chip.
