Yankee’s First Week Wrap-Up

Yankees

Well we’re through the first week of the season and the Yankees are 3 and 3. It seems the offense is hitting, but I’m concerned about starting pitching. Carl Pavano, Andy Pettitte, Mike Mussina and Kei Igawa all came-up short in their 2007 debuts. Thru the first five games the bullpen pitched more innings than the starters…not a good sign. I’d like to know what the Yankees official status on Wang is, and how long it’s going to be before we can expect to see him pitching?

When we heard last week that Damon might be on the disabled list, I hoped Bernie would get the call from Joe or Cashman…but it’s clear that’s not going to happen! Damon is OK and started last nights game.

I hope we get off A-Rod’s back once-and-for-all! As long as he’s a Yankee, we can only make it worse by booing him all the time! The Yankees would have a really hard time finding a replacement that’s as good is he is. Even when A-Rod has a so-so season, he’s better then the competition! We should get behind him, and hopefully he can get this out of his head and play ball.

The weather has been so cold, it’s like going to a football game, so last nights game at the Metrodome was a welcome relief!

The Yankees placed Hideki Matsui on the 15-day DL on Sunday, one day after the outfielder strained his left hamstring and called up Kevin Thompson as their backup outfielder.

Question of the week?
Which two Yankees ex-pitchers swapped wives?

Results from last week’s poll. “Yes” or “No” answers from RNYK readers on the question of whether they would trade Derek Jeter for Jose Reyes were almost even. 38.9% say “yes”, 33.3% say “no” with 5% saying “maybe”. Since 22.2% chose the fourth option, “Are you off your rocker?” the tie was broken. Adding these responses to the “no” category gives Derek a 55.5% vote of confidence. We hope feels the love.
