Yankee’s wrap-up April 26, 2007
The Yankees lost their 6th. consecutive game, dropping a 6-0 decision… leaving the Yanks apprehensive about their starting rotation!
Phil Hughes major league debut looked promising, striking out 5 over 4 1/3 innings, but the offense was non existent against Toronto right-hander A.J. Burnett.
Shut out for the first time this season, the Yankees generated only four singles in 7 innings against the Toronto right-hander.
The Yankees want Kei Igawa to work on his placement. Consequently, his slot for the weekend series against the Red Sox will be in the bullpen… not starting.
A-Rod.’s record-tying 14 home runs in April required only 18 games. As of today A-Rod’s stats are: .378 Avg., 14 HR, 34 RBI, .436 OBP, and .976 SLG. A-Rod reiterates “I want to stay in New York, no matter what.”
Chien-Ming Wang was officially activated from the DL on Tuesday. Wang has been on the mend after straining his right hamstring on March 23rd.
Prior to being struck by a pitch in the first inning on Tuesday, Derek Jeter was hitting .316 (25-for-79). Jeter took batting practice on Thursday but was scratched from the lineup with soreness.
It’s raining right now, and Andy Pettitte is scheduled to get his second chance to beat the Red Sox in the series opener tonight… boy do I wish we had a dome!
Question of the week:
What was the score of the Yankees worst loss ever?
